Amadou has been a staple of the most serious of fly anglers kits for centuries. A “mysterious fungus” in the words of the illustrious Charles Jardine, this bizarre substance has long been prized by humans for it’s fire-starting qualities. Thankfully, it’s not only adept at starting fires but at absorbing moisture aswell! Amadou is a great example of an antiquated solution to a problem that modern technology has yet to find a better answer for. Pricey to be sure but worth every penny.
