The NZ Special is the ultimate high line speed trout rod for battling big fish in gnarly conditions. If you want to drop a dry fly at short range on monster brown sitting in skinny water then this is not your rod – but if youre wanting a rod that can bust through the toughest Norwester on a day when your buddies have pulled out their spinning rods then the Scott NZ Special is your stick.

Traditionally super fast action fly rods have been blunt instruments that lacked any short range touch or feel, but the new NZ Special has just enough life in the tip to get the job done in close if you need to. If there is one six weight fly rod on the market that has been built to cover the full range of New Zealand fly fishing conditions then the Scott NZ Special is it.

The new NZ Special is built on the same IFTD Best In Show award winning Scott Sector architecture, so you know it’s a winner straight out of the gate. But what does that mean exactly?

Ceracoil stripping guides combine nickel titanium shape memory frames with super slick, high-tech Zirconia inserts for a new patent pending guide that will never corrode, will return to its original shape if bent, and has the lowest coefficient of friction for better line shooting. And just to go completely over the top, our Ceracoil guides are PVD coated in a low reflective black finish. The Physical Vapor Deposition process creates a tougher smoother finish than traditional plated finishes.
