The Rapala original floater is still the number one “go-to” lure for many anglers. Whether twitched on the top as a surface bait, or retrieved as a shallow runner, the floating original 3cm minnow is one to have. The balsa wood minnow can be fished from the top to near the bottom. It can be slow-rolled over the stones and boulders in a freshwater stream or river, while it is just as effective being worked over sand flats and weed beds. Its wounded-minnow action that continues to be irresistible to trout, perch, bream, flathead, whiting and many other estuary and freshwater fish species. The next time you find that the fish are holding out of range of the floating original Rapala’s 1.8 metre depth, try attaching it to your down-rigger,the end of your lead line or behind a set of cow bells.
